All day Thursday I made jokes about how I’d been beating myself up in my sleep and that’s why I had a black eye
“Black eye? Az, I don’t see a black eye?”
Well, my eyelid sure felt bruised, so I stuck to the beating up story.
Friday morning, my Saturday and oh what a day! I wake up, I feel a little strange and Oh my gosh…my eyelid’s swollen! It’s HUGE! I look all broken and icky!
Call my doctor and get an appointment for eleven. By that point the swelling nearly goes down, so she’s like “I see a little swelling here” .. I should have taken a picture.
I’m taking a pile of allergy pills to try to get it down and cold compresses. Really I think they didn’t help at all and it’s just healing on it’s own with time.
So with that i spent much of my weekend on my back, in the no-so-happy way, but did manage time to make myself a new/fabulous skirt!
I called in sick on Sunday (and should have Monday) because of my eye issues (computer screen for 8 hours with a screwed up eye?) but I still managed to design and make this wonderful thing. I added two sets of ties on both sides to make sure the back got pulled up enough, and was concerned that it looked funny. I have now been assured that it looks FABULOUS andis my boss’s boss’s favorite part of teh skirt
The thing is, it’s not definitely that I haven’t been able to craft, but I haven’t felt like writing about it…HOW LAZY IS THAT?!
Now, I need to go get dressed for more OT at work and figure out where I drunkenly took my earrings out at last night.
But I really do want opinions on these crafty-things so have at it!
So far I’ve only made a couple of pair for myself, but I think that I might actually put some of these lovely earrings up on my etsy site as well. First I need to get some earring stud things for people who don’t have stretched ears and a gaugie thing so I can check sizes for people who do, and a better lacquer. but go team go I’m excited!
Yes yes I know, everyone and their mother has done a steampunk mod with the Nerf Maverick, but it was my turn.
With the great Nerf assassination war at work, it was time to buy a gun…for my own protection!
But of course I couldn’t just head into work with a run of the mill, yellow and silver and orange gun! I probably should have sanded more before I painted and I really wish that I could have picked up some spray paint instead of doing the WHOLE thing in acrylic. If I do it again I’d still like to acrylic accent it, but it’s just too thick and makes it feel a little strange. I’m still thinking of adding some leather accents and almost put a big ring on it last night but I couldn’t bend the ring closed after I cut through it with my dremmel….dremmel love! /swoon
Oh well, at least I think it looks pretty awesome. I also want to figure out how to change the color of the darts while having them still shoot…but that’s for another day. For now…here we go:
I love my crafts, they make me happy, but one of the things that someone in my position needs to do is to save as much money as humanly possible!
The thing is, I have nothing if not time, so yes, it might take me extra time to do something, but what else was I going to do?
So I buy these things, these gigantic things. Like this bag full of randomly mixed feathers.
The problem of course, is that that if I fall in love with a color, there’s really no guarantee taht I’ll be able to get it again.
Then the funny part consists of things like .. my sitting down and spending hours organizing and separating different colors of feathers.
Then of course I have another threat…that threat being? my Morgan kitty.
Ok, not really a frenzy but that’s QUITE a title if I do say so myself!
I spent many an hour last night trying to get this all completed and you know what? That was a lot of hours. Some important decisions were made, though. My prototype is 15″ high when the flap is closed and 20″ long. I also thought it would look nicer to have batting so that it wasn’t all bumpy. Mistake being? The batting and the length may have made it a bit too long. I’m also not sure why I started with the larger one when I don’t use 14″ needles, so this one isn’t for me lol. I think I’ll work on mine tonight but I really do like the fabric that I chose for this first one and I’m glad I wrapped the “obi” around it:

So…let me know what you think! I’m really happy with how pretty it is, if that counts for anything.
knitting mishaps abound tonight!
I am working on this complicated knitting pattern.
I got the 2 inches of complicated cuff done and it frustrated me so I undid the whole thing. Then I did it again, got about eight rows finished on the actual pattern thing and lost track somewhere, so I undid it again. I undid it ot the cuff but still couldn’t get things together and gave up and started over.
This time I completely finished one rotation of the actual pattern and and realized that the 23 stitches for the pattern were suddenly 24. So then I decided to check teh rest and somehow gained 4 stitches on a simple stocknit.
So now we’re down to the cuff again, only one extra stit
ch…I think this pattern might need to go by the wayside:
Of the ideas that Lexi gave me for her wedding cake topper, I chose the Dia de los Muertos theme and this is what I came up with … I’d say about 20-25 hours later:
Making a skeleton that looks happy is beyond complicated and … I’ve never claimed to be the most functional sculpter in the world, sometimes I make things that are amazing, others not so much but I’m pretty happy with how this turned out in the end.
